Thinking about doing a little write up about the firearms I still own that are sitting in the safes I have around the house. I don't know if it'd be interesting to a reader who doesn't also have a few arms laying around the house, but I would hope so. I would love to have someone read my posts and maybe share a story or a photo about their own firearms and experiences with them, but it would be even better if my posts encouraged someone else to try a shooting sport after reading what it has all meant for me so far.
That would be the best case scenario.
The safe. Hard to picture as it takes up all my closet space. |
The honest truth, though, is that I'd be writing for myself. I've said and written before that holding a rifle or handgun or shotgun is a great physical cue to set your memory off and running. Just the heft and smell of a certain rifle can transport you back to that hunt with that rifle and of course, the same would be true for the other types of firearms you own and have used.
Again, I am just going to write up about the few that I own. The guns I've owned and sold or traded off might get an honorable mention here and there, but I want to stick to the guns on hand. Of course, I have never been that good at sticking to plans. Obviously I would include photos if available.

Another benefit, for me of course, is that I'll be forced to produce something on an imaginary deadline--one week, one gun. Every writer I've ever heard give suggestions on how to become a writer has offered the exact same advice: write. A few have even suggested reading, which is more fun than writing, but less productive. So I'm gonna write, and frankly, this will keep me busy for a year. I might have a problem.
